I am a native "Pennsylvanian," born and raised in Pittsburgh. Go
Steelers! I have been working in the education field for the past 30+
years. Currently, I am completing my Doctoral Degree in Educational
Leadership/Adult Education from Capella University. I graduated with my
Master's Degree in Educational Leadership/Instructional Technology from Nova Southeastern
University and with my Bachelor's Degree in Education/Language Arts from
Duquesne University.
My educational experience consists of:
Teaching EDUC 403 & EDUC 339 courses for Teacher Candidates at Nicholls State University,
School Principal of 4 schools, Elementary Teacher, Middle School Teacher, High School Teacher,
College Program Coordinator, Dean of Academics, District Coordinator for the Gifted and Talented,
and as a Director of an Alternative Teacher Certification Program.
I believe that negative and disruptive students can stop their own
problems that are occurring. The Fountain FOCUS Discipline Approach is
structured around the "Brain-Based" Discipline Theories. My book has
numerous ideas and strategies that encourage students into
re-evaluating their behavioral patterns.
My book offers an updated description of my classroom
discipline approach (4 P's of Discipline) in which the teacher creates a
deterrence of discipline problems in the classroom environment and places all
accountability on the students...positively. Because discipline problems are so prevalent and difficult to solve, many
educators and specialists in related fields have attempted to provide help for
teacher. Knowing an array of successful classroom management methods and techniques are critical to
teaching.
My family and I reside in Walker, Louisiana. I have been married to my soul mate, Michael (New Orleans native
& Retired FAA Air Traffic Controller), for the past 31 years. We have 3 older adult kiddos: Joshua, Matthew &
Kassandra. I attribute my educational foundation and background to the professors at Duquesne University
of the Holy Ghost. I have written about the 4 years at Duquesne University as
being very rewarding and one of the greatest times of my life. Some of my
education professors are still there and doing what they love to do - training
teachers how to be the Best!
I have studied highly successful teachers for over 30 years. In the process, I developed
methods of classroom discipline that are both commanding and reasonable for all
teachers. Presently, I am working with local school districts and universities to schedule Fountain FOCUS Discipline
Workshops and Teacher Preparation Guides for State Certification Exams.
My Educational Philosophy is very simple:
Learners appreciate structure and guidance.
Immediate feedback is crucial.
Learners need to know what you expect from them.
Learners need to know that you genuinely believe in them.
